What is FasTracks?
FasTracks is RTD's twelve-year comprehensive plan to build and operate high-speed rail lines, expand and improve bus service and provide park-n-Rides throughout the region.
FasTracks includes:
119 miles of new light rail and commuter rail.
18 miles of bus rapid transit service.
21,000 new parking spaces at rail and bus stations.
Expanded bus service in all areas.
An Easy to Use System
FasTracks provides variety in bus and light rail transit.
Drive to a park-n-Ride and take a bus or train.
Walk to a bus or rail station.
Ride a bike to a transit station. Store it in your bike locker, on a public rack, or take it with you on buses and trains.
Successes
RTD has 10 years of successful experience in building light rail transit in the region. The Central Corridor, Central Platte Valley, Southeast and Southwest Light Rail lines were all built on time and on budget.
Ridership on light rail has exceeded even the most optimistic projections, and carries over 35,000 riders per day.
The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) voted RTD the Outstanding Transit Agency in North America in 1993, 2003 and 2008.
T-Rex opened in 2006 - on time and on budget.
RTD ridership has increased over 28% in the past 10 years. RTD carried approximately 100 million riders from July 2007- July 2008.
How Much Will It Cost?
FasTracks will cost $4.7B to construct over twelve years and is funded by a combination of a region-wide sales tax, federal funds and private contributions.
