RIDING THE BUS
Riding the bus

Finding the bus stop
Bus stops are typically located just past intersections. Bus signs for RTD are marked with "The Ride" and the route numbers served.

Finding the right bus
The route number and destination appear on the front of the bus. If you are unsure if you have the right route, ask the driver.

Getting on the bus
If you are waiting at the bus stop, the bus will pick you up unless you indicate otherwise (e.g. turn your back or start to walk away or sit on the bench - all of which indicates you do not intend to ride).

How much it costs
The fare for a local bus ride is $2 each way, $3.50 each way for an express and $4.50 each way for a regional ride. NOTE: EXACT CHANGE IS REQUIRED

How to pay
Upon entering the bus, you will see the "fare box" next to the driver with a slot on the top for coins and a feeder that accepts dollar bills. Exact change is required; change will not be given.

Transfers
If you need to take another bus to reach your destination, ask the driver for a transfer. Simply show this transfer to the next driver as you board the bus or light rail.

Arriving at your stop
Prior to your intended destination, pull the cord over the window and the driver will stop at the next bus stop. If you are unsure which stop is your's, ask the driver for assistance.
